European Handover Stories

At TMG we pride ourselves on making your European handover as seamless and stress-free as possible…

…in fact, we’ve done this handover so many times you could say we’re almost locals!

But don’t just take our word for it.

Here’s what some of our TMG Lagoon owners have had to say about their European pickup experiences and why they decided to ‘Go Euro‘ with TMG.

Ability to live and work on board a Lagoon 380

TMG’s Rowan McMahon flew to Les Sables-d’Olonne to hand over a fab new Lagoon 380 to a lucky Australian couple who plan to travel on their 380 for at least 5 – 10 years. Justin and Kelly are looking forward to visiting Spain, the USA and the Caribbean, and depending on time constraints, make their way back to Australia.

The European pickup option is the perfect head start for exploring Europe, and Justin and Kelly plan to take full advantage of that. They love fishing and are avid scuba divers so making a home on board their Lagoon 380 for the next stage of their lives is a wonderful prospect.

The fortune of being able to work from their new on-water home from anywhere in the world while travelling to any destination they choose is not lost on the couple.

In many ways, it’s the end of a journey. For the owner, the selection of the perfect boat and the plans that go into a European pickup … for the commissioning team and all hands at Lagoon getting your boat ship shape and ready to hit the water … and also for our team at TMG ensuring the process runs smoothly and effortlessly for our new client.

Opportunity to complete two ocean crossings

Drew Hakin is a keen sailor who runs a busy facade engineering company and his packed schedule usually only allows him to manage an ocean crossing every 5 or 10 years. But the European pickup option will give him the opportunity to complete two crossings in the next six months, which he is really excited about.

“I think it’s a fascinating and great way to live … I had the choice to wait until semi-retirement in a few years or to just go ahead and do it. And I am lucky to have the choice of setting up the boat so I can work anywhere in the world.”

After sales support and service

The happy new owners of a Lagoon 450F are enjoying their time in beautiful Les Sables-d’Olonne, on the west coast of France, after their European handover. In fact, they have decided to extend their stay and take some time to explore the local area while they prepare themselves for years of adventure aboard their luxurious Lagoon.

And of course, TMG will still be ‘on call’ after the couple’s departure to make sure they’re enjoying their new yacht. The Australian commissioning team stays in close contact with the owners after handover to check they are comfortable with every aspect of the boat. The dedicated service centre in Sydney remains on hand to help arrange servicing and support across the globe.

Positive, memorable and stress-free experience

When the Jones family travelled to Les Sables-d’Olonne for the handover and launch of their beautiful new Lagoon 42, Sabella, TMG Managing Director, John Cowpe, flew out to oversee the European pickup and make sure the Joneses set off on their live-aboard adventure with ease, confidence and of course, a bit of Lagoon style.

“When we first arrived, the boat exceeded all expectations. New boat smell aside, it was the quality and the reception from Oliver and the team at Lagoon and having John fly over … we’ve got numerous welcome packages and presents on board … it did exceed all our expectations,” Aaron says.

“All the little extra details and thought … the help from SAS and the rest of the commissioning team … I’m speechless. Lara and I are just over the moon with how we’ve been treated here.”
