Dragonfly 25 Overview

Overview

The new Dragonfly 25 is a high-performance trailer-sailer, for sport and racing sailors looking for an exhilarating lightweight trimaran with comfortable accommodation … and is ideal for weekend cruising with family and friends.

This exceptional trimaran is available in two versions – a touring version and the more powerful and dynamic Sport version.

The 25 has a purpose-built roll-on roll-off trailer for easy launching and recovery.

She weighs 1,050kg and, with her minimal wetted area, it’s a recipe for speed.

Her impressive swing wings are delicate but easy to operate.

Interior

The Dragonfly 25 has an interior plan that is simple and functional. Ahead of the main bulkhead is a V-berth with the Porta Potti underneath it. The head can be closed off from the main cabin with a rolling screen.

Interior space has been maximised by offsetting the centreboard and crafting special furniture modules, that can be quickly removed for racing.

A cockpit tent can also be pitched to effectively double the available sheltered living space, and the versatile saloon table can be quickly set up out in the cockpit.

The cabin has bench seats that are almost seven feet long and there is plenty of headroom above the seats for a standard issue adult. Aft by the companionway there are two modules that offer counter space, a sink and an Origo alcohol one-burner stove.

Exterior

The Dragonfly 25 Touring comes as standard with a 10.5m single-spreader rotating alloy mast, furling self-tacking jib for ease of single-handing and a fully-battened mainsail with mainsheet traveller in the cockpit.

The Sport version has a carbon mast with a taller carbon rig, a larger sail area and a rudder on each float. Single rudder also available. Both Dragonflies have the same size hulls, with the mast, rig and sails size differing.

The Dragonfly comes with the Swing Wing system as standard, giving the 25 enough stability to moor in the folded position in a marina berth.

Using this revolutionary system, the trimaran can be folded to reduce the beam by more than 50% in less than one minute per side, using no tools and operating only from the cockpit.

This system is the absolute fastest and easiest folding system on the market.

Dragonfly 25 Reviews

“This latest offering from Denmark’s Quorning Boats, which won a nod from SAIL’s 2016 Best Boats judges as their Best Small Cruiser, is the smallest boat in the builder’s current line of folding “Swing Wing” trimarans, which range all the way up to 40ft in length. Quorning, refreshingly, is something of a throwback as modern boatbuilders go. It is a small family-owned concern that’s been in business some 40 years now and is focused on quality. Much like Nautor’s Swan in its heyday, Quorning also tries to make everything that goes on its boats in-house.”

The 25 is almost as wide as it is long, so Jens had the boat parked against a bulkhead instead of in a slip. He fired up the six horsepower outboard and skilfully steered the little tri around a couple of wood pilings and out into the open water of Back Creek. Like all of its Dragonfly sisters, the 25 is a Swing Wing folding trimaran. The two amas fold against the sides of the main hull with the pull of a lanyard so the boat will fit into a normal slip or onto a normal trailer.
